Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election Dates Announced on Aug 16!
The Election Commission has officially announced the Jammu Kashmir and Haryana assembly elections. At the Plenary Hall, in New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan to divulge details, the poll body scheduled to host a presser at 3 pm on Friday. Additionally, the assembly election will be conducted in three phases. However, the official voting dates are September 18, 25, and October 1.

After the Centre’s decision to revoke Article 370 and bifurcate the state into two Union Territories—Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, it will be the first assembly election. On the contrary, the electoral roll of Haryana will be published on 27th August 2024.
The decision to conduct the elections in Jammu Kashmir was made after a five-year gap since the region’s special status was scrapped. The higher authorities strongly opposed the revocation of Article 370.
