The Veer Abdul Hameed Chapter
The chapter honors the legendary CQMH Abdul Hameed, who laid down his life during the India-Pakistan war of 1965. Posthumously awarded the Param Veer Chakra, India’s highest gallantry award, Abdul Hameed’s story will inspire students to emulate his bravery and patriotism.
Other Changes in the NCERT Class 6 Social Science Textbook
The revised textbook includes several other updates:
- Harappan Civilization: Now referred to as the “Sindhu-Sarasvati” and “Indus-Sarasvati” civilization.
- Sarasvati River: Mentioned multiple times, including its desiccation as a reason for the decline of Harappan society.
- Ujjayini Meridian: India’s ancient prime meridian.
