Reetika Hooda: India’s Last Hope in Wrestling
The hope is for India to win another wrestling medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 with Reetika Hooda. All eyes are on her! In the opening round, she will go to face Hungary’s Bernadett Nagy, who has won two bronze medals at the European Championships. Definitely, the match will be tough but not impossible to win.
In the case of winning Hooda, in the next round, she will face No.1 seed Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan as you all know about the fact that this week, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the women’s 50kg freestyle final earlier this week because of her weight. She pleaded to the ad-hoc division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Paris and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA)for the silver medal.
She was looking for a positive response. Additionally, senior counsels Harish Salve and Vidushpat Singhania are fighting for her in court nothing worked. Consequently, the American wrestler later defeated Cuba’s Yusneylis Guzman Lopez and won a gold medal while replacing Phogat. After this, she immediately applied for the retirement.
After this all happened, we are looking to improve our Paris Olympics India 2024 medal tally count by having five bronze medals and one silver already. We should be proud of our country’s athletes who are fully determined and focused on facing all the challenges and opportunities coming their way.
