- 558 offers made by 123 companies had gross compensation packages of more than Rs 20 lakh per annum
- 230 offers ranged between Rs 16.75 lakh and Rs 20 lakh
- 78 international offers were accepted in both phases

I’m happy that the average package increased to Rs 23.5 lakh, but concerned that fewer students were placed compared to last year. With 543 companies registering for placements, the competition was fierce. Students will be relieved if they got placed, but worried if they didn’t.
Placement Trends
The engineering and technology sector recruited the highest number of students, with 430 students selected in 106 core engineering companies at entry-level positions. Information Technology and tech hiring were slightly higher this season compared to last year. However, fewer selections were made by consulting companies, with 117 offers made by 29 companies.

I’m thrilled that top companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon recruited from IIT-B. But, I wish more core engineering companies had come for placements. 78 international offers were accepted, which is a great opportunity for students who want to work abroad.
Challenges
The placement season was slow in the second phase but picked up pace after April. The war in Ukraine and the subdued global economy resulted in fewer international recruiters. Not only this but also, the second phase of placements was slow, but picked up pace after April. I hope next year’s placement season is better.
Additionally, the war in Ukraine and global economic conditions affected international placements. I hope these challenges ease out soon. besides all these challenges, I appreciate the institute’s efforts to help unplaced students find employment or pursue higher studies.
